FA throw club OUT of the FA Cup after ‘ridiculous mistake' leads to clash being postponed
A CLUB have been thrown out of the FA for a "ridiculous mistake". Guernsey FC drew 1-1 with Bedfont Sports Club on Saturday in the extra preliminary round. 2 It was their first competitive match of the 2025-26 season for the Green Lions. And it was also their first FA Cup match for eight years due to financial troubles. But Tuesday's replay in London did not go ahead as planned. That is because Guernsey admitted there had been an error with the registration of one of their players. Initially, the replay was pushed back by a week to get to the bottom of the issue. However, Guernsey have now confirmed they were booted out of this season's FA Cup. A club statement said: "We have just received official confirmation that the club has been removed from this season's competition, and that Bedfont Sports Club FC has been awarded the tie and will progress to the Preliminary Round." Bedfont Sports will host Kingstonian on August 16. But fans could not believe the costly blunder. One said: "Schoolboy error." Another replied: "After all the hype... a real big let down." A third more compassionate supporter added: "Unfortunately, it happens. You can't really blame club admins as all are normally volunteers - it's happened twice to my local club." But a final user wrote: "What a ridiculous mistake to make @GuernseyFC. Obviously haven't learnt anything from watching Jersey's similar mistake last season?" That is in reference to fellow Channel Island side Jersey Bulls being docked three points for fielding a suspended player. The punishment denied Jersey the Combined Counties Premier South league title - but they did still get promoted through the play-offs. The first round proper of this season's FA Cup is on the first weekend of November, with Premier League and Championship clubs entering in the third round in early January. The final takes place at Wembley on May 16, 2026 - with Crystal Palace the current holders after stunning Manchester City in last season's showpiece. 2

Guernsey FC force FA Cup replay after Bedfont Sports draw
Guernsey FC will travel to Bedfont Sports in an FA Cup replay on Tuesday after the two sides drew 1-1 in their extra preliminary round tie. Seb Vance missed a headed chance after 17 minutes for the hosts, while five minutes later Bedfont's Jake Woods hit the post with a free kick. Simon Arnold hit the side netting for Guernsey five minutes into the second half. But the deadlock was finally broken with 18 minutes left as Bedfont's Jude Jakes-McKay fired his side in front with a low effort. But Guernsey's record goalscorer Ross Allen levelled five minutes later as he deftly turned home Brandon Wallace's cross to send the tie to a replay. The two sides will meet at the Bedfont Recreation Ground on Tuesday night as Guernsey aim to progress in the FA Cup after returning to the tournament for the first time in eight years.
